Sony to end CRT production

Sony are to end production of CRTs by the end of march.  At their height of production they were producing over 2 million tubes a year for TVs and Computer Monitors.

New search engine for  Hams

There is a new search engine specifically for hams, it has a set of algorithms that reduce the risk if bringing up and having to sift through lots of Non Ham sites when searching.


The site is  www.cqoogle.com


I've tried it, it is a lot better than other search engines.


Remember though, it is no good using this engine for Non Ham searching.

Stand by for SuitSat II

Suitsat II is to be launched from the ISS.  It is to be more sophisticated than Suit Sat 1 and will last at least 6 months.

It will have solar panels to charge it's on board batteries and other advanced features such as transponders for digital transmission.

BBC End Shortwave

The BBC has ended it's Shortwave Broadcasts to the World.  The BBC said that Long Wave broadcasting will still continue for some time to come and that the world can still listen to the programmes via the internet.

Remember The 60's Pirate Radio Ships?


The old 60's pirates will star in a new film being shot at the moment using an old rusty fishing trawler off the coast of the UK.  It is thought to be a comedy similar to Hot Fuzz.  It is due for release next year.
