J-POLE for 70cm |
The reason why the J-pole was chosen was quite clearly strength. I have seen little 1/4 wave thingies built on SO259 sockets and radials bolted to each hole. Used in the field as RAYNET would, the poor little radials would soon break off.. In came the j-pole. I have often admired the versatility of this beast, I once made a 2m version with 15 mm copper pipe. |

Note, at the feed point the coax is held in place with self tapping screws and crimps. An SO239 or your favourite socket can be used for the connection. On my version the rods are solid aluminium bar stock but tube could be used. Remember to seal the ends to stop ingress of water. |

The constructional details with dimensions are still to be written. If you are interested in this version of the J-pole, email me or wait for me to place the full details here. This is not a new type of aerial and I have not designed anything new except constructing a strong, light repeatable version. |
